Dr Matthew Kerton joins the DSV UK team

Matt KertonDSV are delighted that Dr Matthew Kerton has joined its UK breeding team at Wardington, near Banbury, to take over its wheat breeding programme for the UK. This new appointment is part of the on going development within DSV UK that will create an ever more effective organisation. Matt joins the company with considerable professional experience in academia and the commercial environment.  

Matt grew up on his family farm near Yeovil in Somerset and in 2009 he completed his PhD in Crop Sciences at the University of Birmingham where his main aspirations lay in molecular genetics and plant physiology as well as achieving a degree in Biolological Sciences. He is newly married to his wife Natalie. His combination of practical experience and academic achievement gives him a solid foundation upon which to build his knowledge and understanding of the challenging world of wheat breeding. Prior to joining DSV, Matt held various positions of increasing responsibility within the university.

Mike Mann director of Sales and Marketing said ‘we are very excited with this new appointment and will look forward to marketing new wheat varieties in the future’.

DSV hopes that Matt’s background and insight will serve the company well by bringing another valuable perspective to the business. Matt’s appointment will commence a new generation of wheat breeders. His key role will be developing DSV’s existing work from its gene pool which is already producing some very interesting results globally for the UK market place, as well as liaising with DSV’s other research sites around the world. Matt will assume his new responsibilities in January 2010.
