Status: AHDB Candidate List 2019/2020
Theodore has gained a place on the AHDB Candidates list this December and looks a strong contender to join the 2020/2021 Recommended List as a UK recommended variety.
Theodore is a high yielding hard feed winter wheat with good disease resistance. It has outstanding yield, especially in untreated trials (120%), which has outperformed all the controls, particularly the two feed varieties JB Diego (92%) and KWS Santiago (94%), making it a farmer-friendly variety to grow in the future with the ever increasing reductions in fungicides use.

This variety has performed very well in the trials network; particularly in the West country, with a treated yield of 105% of controls (JB Diego 102% and KWS Santiago 102%), which makes it one of the highest yielding varieties for that area.
Theodore has the highest Septoria tritici score (7.2) of all the NL2 varieties and controls, (with DSVs other feed variety DSV316127 just 0.1 below with a score of 7.1, making DSV a top choice for Septoria tritici). It also has the highest score for yellow rust and a strong brown rust score of 7. Overall it has a robust and all-round package for disease resistance.
Standing at 83cm, Theodore has good resistance to lodging in both treated and untreated plots, with no lodging seen in breeders plots throughout its time in trialling.
