Forage value number 7

Italian ryegrass is a short-lived top-grass that forms leafy tussocks. The species is used exclusively in field forage, as its persistence is not sufficient for permanent grassland stands. The species is one of the most efficient grasses and can deliver very good dry matter yields with good nutrient and water supply. Cultivation together with forage legumes can increase yield and quality.
